Noah's Ark at Skirball

Five years in the making and filling an 8,000 sq. ft. gallery,
Noah’s Ark at the Skirball is an amazing attraction for children
and families at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
The floor-to-ceiling ark is filled to the rafters with handcrafted
animals and contains a ropes course with more than
30,000 hand-tied knots.

The hundreds of animals are all crafted from recycled materials
and everyday objects, including bottle caps, bicycle parts,
baseball mitts, croquet balls, mop heads, and rearview mirrors.

For example, the three animal sculptures that preside over the
entrance to the galleries (pictured above) include an
Asian elephant with a trunk made from vegetable steamers
from Loas and a pair of zebras with bodies fabricated from
wind turbines and keyboards.

Amazing!

Stellenbosch Slow Food Market

This market is wonderful in summer, it has a great selection
of food stalls including, smoked trout, flavoured meat and sausage,
waffles, cakes - you can guess where I was most of the time.

Among the outside stalls are hand creams, face washes,
handmade soaps, jewellery, wines, chocolates, clothing, spices etc.

My baby sister and my friend showing off their goodies they bought.
There is also lots of seating outside and a few recycling bins.
It is situated just outside Stellenbosch.

Beautiful Silhouettes

Thought I'd share this interesting piece of art, wonder
where the inspiration came from, either way it's pretty
cool. They made out of leaves. By Jenny Lee Fowler.

Will you be my...

I found these cute cookies on a The Flour Pot Cookies website,
I think it's a wonderful idea if you not sure how to ask your
girlfriend to be your bridesmaid.

They have a wide selection of other cookies that look yum
and also passes on a message, so sweet!

Growing Paper

A friend introduced me to this greeting card and I
immediately thought of my friend and colleague
who simply loves anything green.

Growing paper
produces handmade paper with a twist.

The paper has embedded seeds that will grow into flowers
or herbs once you've planted the paper. The designs are
colourful and creative, just purchased a card with a birdcage
on it, I can't wait to give this to my friend, I know she
is going to love it.
