I received a beautiful ring for Christmas, a ring that I fell in
love with the moment I saw it. It's silver and copper, it's absolutely
pretty, one of my favourite items in my jewellery box.
I also met Frieda at the Neighbourhood Goods Market and I
fell in love with all her work. She was kind enough to let me
share her work with you.

The materials used in making my ring are silver and copper.
The silver ring becomes white after a specific process of
heating it up, putting it in acid and scrubbing it to draw a thin
fine silver layer to the top. The black hollow space around the
heart is oxidised. The copper heart is heat treated to give it's
red colour and is coated with beeswax to preserve
the colour. The ring is constructed from plate and the top is
hollow inside to keep it as light as possible.

The ring is part of the heart range created by Frieda which
was shown at her solo exhibition in Windhoek.
